3.14.09. i had the opportunity to compose and shoot these two photos of the lovely Erin as she sat for my photography mentor, Jim Robertson. Jim helped me figure out the lighting, tweak the pose and has schooled me in photoshop. Many thanks to both him and Erin for their patience and goodwill. Here are the results.

Jim has alternate finished versions of these same shots, which i also like very much. Photoshop is pretty powerful and i am *beginning* to figure it out.

03.28.09. Our friend Alan performed with his fellow musicians live at the Spring Hafla held at Isis’ Dance Studio in Bedford. He plays the riq (the tamborine thingy) and the oud (the funny looking guitar thingy), among other instruments.

03.15.09. We got together a day late at the house to celebrate Stan’s birthday. He mostly got booze. Go figure.

03.07.09. We spent the day with friends at the North Texas Irish Festival at Fair Park, Dallas.

03.04.09. i’ve been itching to photograph the Botanic Gardens for some time. It is still VERY early spring, but Becca and i went there and got some nice photos. i’ll will post of some my non-Becca photos in another set.

03.04.09. I’ve been digging Janis Joplin recently, so while i didn’t initially plan it this way, i ended up with a Janis-inspired photo shoot. This was fun. i gots dem ol’ kozmic blues again, mama!

03.03.09. We celebrated Miss Kimberly’s birthday with Mexican food, gift-giving, cakes, lots of kids and a new cat to pet!

2.20.09. After taking Sheri’s pictures, i was driving through a shopping center that was full of thousands of birds, and spotted a couple hundred at least taking turns bathing in a huge puddle. They would literally fly into the puddle in a big group, splash around ALOT while making lots of chirpy bird noises, then all fly out as a new group flew in. This went on for at least fifteen minutes while i watched and was still going on as i left. It was impressive. In some of the photos, the moving birds and flying water feel more like impressionism than anything else. But i thought they were kinda neat. So here.

03.01.09. Decided to post random nature pics from February of this year, including scary winter woods, lots of light, shadow and greenery and Alan’s cheery mailbox companions.
